About Us

The Springfield Stamp Club (SSC) of Springfield, Virginia, is a voluntary, non-profit (IRS 501c3) organization, to further the interests of philately and community service.  Collectors of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join! 

Meetings

Springfield Stamp Club meetings are held at the Lynbrook Elementary School on Wednesday nights during the months/weeks that school is open. The entrance door opens at 7:00 PM and closes at 9:00 PM.  Parking is free.  

Typical Meeting Schedule (actual meeting agendas may vary, check website for updates)

  1. Business Meetings – Business meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month. The second business meeting of the month is followed by a presentation.

  2. Trading Sessions – Trading sessions are held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. If the fourth Wednesday is also the last Wednesday of the month, a Live Auction is held.

  3. Silent Auction – A silent auction is held the first trading session of each month.

  4. Auction – A live auction is held the last Wednesday of each month.

Meeting Activities

Presentations - Members give a presentation on a subject of their research or collection/philatelic interest/specialty.

Silent Actions - Members bring items for sale, identified with a bid sheet (or equivalent) and a minimum bid. Bidders enter their bid(s) on the bid sheet. The highest bid wins, with 10% going to the club treasury, paid by the seller.

Live Auctions - Members bring items for sale to the highest bidder, identified with a bid sheet (or equivalent) and a minimum bid. Bidders place a “chip” on the item. An auctioneer opens the bidding and the highest bid wins, with 10% going to the club treasury, paid by the seller. (Downloadable Auction Sheet)

Club Books - Members submit items (on a price sheet) for sale through the Club Books.  Ten percent of the sale price will go to the club treasury, paid by the seller.  Club books are available at every Club meeting.  The club books are also available at each year’s SPRINGPEX and NAPEX shows.
